Why now is the right time
Finland's economy is worrying many of us right now, and the reasons aren't just one.
I understand this situation primarily through my own expertise and work. Statistics show that Finnish companies invest significantly less in marketing and brand building than, for example, Sweden, where these investments are seen as central to driving growth. This isn't the only reason for Finland's situation, but I believe it's been one significant factor for a long time.
I've seen in practice that companies who understand, or want to understand the role of brand as part of their business, are able to stand out and grow even in a difficult market.
For those who don't know, I've founded a new creative agency, Less Paradox. I thought long and hard about whether it makes sense to start an agency in this market situation. However, I came to the conclusion that perhaps now is exactly the right time, when commercial understanding and effective brand solutions are more important than ever.
I have extensive experience in how brand development drives sales. Especially with packaging and how packaging can win market share. When I've designed brands for products that live in retail, I've almost always started with the packaging. The reason is simple: packaging is the moment where a brand either wins or loses.
Finland is full of good ideas, expertise, services and products. However, we should invest more in how these are presented to the world. An I believe now is the right time to invest.
My biggest motivator at work is seeing my clients succeed. And I hope that every Finnish company would understand the true power of brand and marketing.
